What are the advantages of using aerial imagery frequently throughout your construction progress? And what kinds of imagery should you include in the report?
Monitoring large construction sites from the air is nothing new, and neither is using drones to capture the imagery. What has changed drastically in the past few years, is what you are able to do with the data that you capture.
It allows you to:
The most commonly used practice is mapping a site by stitching images into an orthographic photo or map. This provides a complete overview of the site from above.
In Scopito, this map can now be analysed using Artificial Intelligence. AI can help detect pre-defined conditions such as the quality of materials on-site, or the m² of completed structure. Comparing these maps from different points in the construction process, makes it easy to see the progress.
Using the image analysis tool in Scopito allows you to add other inspection types, that do not need to be birds-eye view.
You can choose to include items such as facias, nearby trees, cell towers, wind turbines, or electrical towers in your inspection as well. If you need to include a higher level of details on a specific subject, it can easily be done.
This enables you to bundled all relevant (types of) data into one, complete inspection.
Both video- and sound recording can be powerful tools for construction progress reporting, and both can be included in Scopito reports as links.
This allows you to make an aerial fly-through of the site whilst doing the number crunching.
Utilizing drones for construction progress reporting is a clear advantage, and provides additional advantages if deployed frequently throughout the project, from planning to completion.
